ViUX Secure VPN Connection
Posted by J.T. Smith on 14 October 2015 12:30 PM

To provide for the best security of the VIUX Network, we do not allow anonymous remote connections to certain services / ports on our network, such as: SSH (22); RDP (3389); MS-SQL (1433); MySQL (3306); etc... Instead, anyone needing to make connections to such services / ports on the ViUX Network must first make a Secure VPN connection to our network using the FortiClient VPN Software - to open these ports for their specific connecting system(s).

First, you must open a ticket with ViUX Support to request a Secure VPN Login for your account. The Login Username will be your Email Address and a Random Secure Password will be assigned.

Second, the FortiClient VPN Software must be downloaded from: http://www.fortinet.com/resource_center/product_downloads.html - at which you select your Device / OS to download the correct version. Download and install the software and then configure it as follows...

Connection Name: (enter anything, like your Domain Name)

Description: (enter anything, like "ViUX VPN for your Domain Name")

Remote Gateway: vpn.viux.com

Custom Port - (CHECKED): 10433

Authentication: (your choice to prompt for or save login)

Client Certificate - (NOT checked)

Do not Warm Invalid Server Certificate - (CHECKED)

Enter your provided Secure VPN Login Username and Password when prompted and connect. THAT'S IT... Proceed to do whatever you need to do on the ViUX Network just as you otherwise would, such as: SSH, RDP, SQL, FTP, etc... And going forward, just make sure to make the Secure VPN connection whenever you need to do something on the ViUX Network that is otherwise blocked.
