How does ViUX handle / store server backup data?
Posted by Jordan S. on 20 October 2009 04:43 PM

For details on our nightly backup procedures, please see the article entitled: "Virtual Server (VPS / VDS / DDS) Nightly Backup Policy".

Related to how we handle / store our server backup data... ViUX maintains several EMC / Dell AX150 SAN devices and Dell MD1000 NAS devices; which are connected to designated backup servers within each datacenter / network. Each of these devices can store several Terabytes (TB) of data, and our backup procedures are set to purged old data as new data is written (see the above linked article for more details in this regard).

These SAN / NAS devices are NOT stored in different / off-site locations from the servers containing the original source data; therefore those requiring off-site backup storage or specific retention times for their backup data would need to add these options to their subscription for an additional fee.

Our backups include all: Web, E-mail, Database, and any other data present on each VPS, VDS, and DDS container on our network. This includes our Virtual Shared Servers (VSS) and Shared MySQL / MS-SQL Database Servers.
